Hummerstons

Hummerstons was the new kid on the block at the beginning of this year, much talked about (ala the current Skyve bistro).

The italian job poutine ($13) - beef + bacon ragout with mushrooms onions and cheese

Gooey cheesy goodness, it was very satisfying to pick up a cheese + tomato soaked fry and popping it into your mouth. Though I felt that there should be options for a bigger portion because this dish is really meant for sharing in a group

The Seafood stew ($36). Very happy with the fat scallop but honestly the dish was kinda one-note to me with the nuances of the seafood lost in the tomato sauce.

The Hummerstons burger ($26), huge and topped with bacon, mushrooms, tomato etc. The best thing about the burger was the bread. Very unique flaky chewy texture, def addictive. I would recommend sharing the burger though cos that thing's huge.

I came back again with some friends and had a tried a few other dishes on the menu. In my opinion the best dish Lamb Ribs so do go for that. Overall though the food is pretty average and for the price, I might be happier at one of the many restaurants at robertson quay.

Service is great though, very friendly and helpful staff. We came during Valentine's day and every girl was given a rose and every guy a cookie. How cute!
