Restaurant Week : Table at 7

For a restaurant week diningcity starr restaurant, I was really disappointed with the menu at Table at 7

Portions were tiny and food was mediocre. 

The steak was about half the size of Trattoria Lafiandra's, did not taste as good and cost $15++ more (similar 3 course meal too) 

THere are some who avoid Restaurant Week because they believe that some restaurants make use of this opportunity to test new dishes which may or may not be well received. I think this was the case here. While I am not sure if a normal meal at Table at 7 will be of a similar quality, I am not eager to find out. I did go check out their menu for Restaurant Week this year and it looks much better - 5 course and truffles to boot.

At $35++, this was one of the more value-for-money restaurant week meals around.

Tanjong Beach Club

Tanjong Beach Club (or TBC) is warm, bright and cheery. 

Perfect for a restaurant on the beach to be honest. I really like the shades of blue, the stripes and the happy smiles all around. Singaporeans are a minority here but that shouldnt stop you from having brunch here. 

Had the eggs ben with bacon, which was decently done but nothing fantastic.

I would recommend the pancakes or the big breakfast (it comes with avocado and that is always a win in my books). 

I believe theres a min spending for booking of the poolside day beds. If you do chill there, do order the truffle fries and crab dip.

Seoul Yummy

One of the good things about working near Clark Quay is the many many great lunch deals around the area. Seoul Yummy offers lunch sets from $9.99, this spicy chicken soup with 6(!) side dishes was a great deal. Although I think the BBQ place a few doors down probably offers better tasting soup.

Coastal Settlement

Old school to the max, my mum was gushing about all her "childhood relics" on display. 

Coastal Settlement is one of those places that illustrates how Singaporeans will go to great lengths to eat good food. Located in a mother-ulu part of changi village, do drive or cab there.

I appreciate the ode to our past and it was a fun place to eat at

Couldnt resist ordering the truffle fries, the truffle flavor was disappointingly absent though. 

The salad came in a cute cannister for tossing but so tiny portion wise.

Thankfully, the rest of the other dishes were pretty good.

Thick chunky fries and a huge juicy burger that hits the spot

Always a good dish for sharing. Thin crispy pizzas.

The must-order dish would have to be the portobello fries, esp if your a fan of mushrooms. Umami-ness  of the thick portobello together with tangy mayo is just delicious.

Lots Gourmet Stop

My favorite place for brunch in the east. We have tons of cool bars but next to nothing when it comes to brunch places. So it was a delight to discover Lots Gourmet Stop, and so near my house too!

Located rather inauspiciously opposite Changi prison, Lots is a  cute, unpretentious cafe with a decent menu (but no deserts though!). It also stocks quite a few unique beers so do try them.

Admittedly we were a bit thrown off by the texture of the scrambled eggs but they tasted pretty good. 

The big breakfast which comes with your choice of eggs, pancakes, bacon, tomato and baked beans.

I would recommend the eggs ben. Love the crusty bread paired with perfect runny eggs and salty salmon

Now I have been to both ( Park mall and Robertson Quay) and I very much prefer the one at Park Mall. Probably because I went to Robertson Quay for brunch and it was blazing hot. 

I like having brunch at Kith. Its unpretentious and straight-forward. 

Refreshing from the usual slew of hipster or atas places.
